What’s a cookie?

A small text file the site leaves in your browser so it can remember things between page loads. Without them your cart would empty every time you clicked a link.

What do you use them for?

Necessary cookies. These make the store function. They remember what’s in your cart and carry your session through checkout. There are no customer accounts here, so none of them keep you signed in to anything. The site doesn’t work without them, which is why they can’t be switched off from this page.

Preference cookies. These remember small choices, like dismissing a banner so it doesn’t reappear on every page.

Analytics cookies. These tell us which pages get visited, how long people stay, and where they leave. The reports we see are aggregated, so we can tell that a page is being abandoned without knowing who abandoned it.

Advertising cookies. If you arrive from a Google ad, these record that the visit turned into an order so we know which ads are worth running. They can also mean you see our blankets again on other sites for a while.

How long do they last?

Session cookies disappear when you close your browser. Others stay between a few days and two years depending on their job. Cart cookies last about 30 days, which is why a cart you abandoned last month may still be waiting.

Can I turn them off?

Yes, in your browser settings:

• Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies
• Safari: Settings, then Privacy
• Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security
• Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions

Turning off analytics and advertising cookies won’t affect your shopping at all. Turning off necessary cookies will break the cart and checkout, so if the site starts behaving oddly after a cookie purge, that’s usually why.

Third parties

Some cookies are set by companies we use rather than by us: PayPal during checkout, our analytics provider, and Google when advertising is running. Their own policies govern what they do with that data.
